Udawalawa National Park
Asian elephants are considered the main attraction in Udawalawe park. It is a popular spot for seeing adult herds that include impressive male tuskers and calves. Seeing their enjoyment while bathing, playing with water and behavior in meal time is one of the epoch making event if you have the passion about animals.
Walawe river and Udawalawe Reservoir are significant features of Udawale Park. Stunning view from Balangoda, Kaltota and Haputhale mountain range clearly enriches the person with utmost excitement.
This 30,821 hectare dry zone area was declared as a National Park in 1972. The area has an annual rainfall of 1524mm and an average temperature of 29 C° – 40 C°.
The Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home is a facility within Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka that was established in 1995 by the Sri Lanka Department of wildlife. This facility takes good care of the orphan baby elephants until about they reach five years and later after careful consultation, are released to the Udawalawe National Park.

Time and Duration
Option 1: Early Morning Safari: Depart from Galle with packed breakfast at 5.00 am and return around 1.00 pm. Visit to the Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home to see baby elephants feeding.
Option 2: Afternoon Safari: Depart from Galle at 11.00 am and return around 8.00 pm. Visit to the Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home to see baby elephants feeding.
Travelling Distance and Duration
About 125 km by AC Car and then you will be going on a four wheel safari JEEP about 3 hours.
